The late Jacobeth Mmakoutwane Sebopa (nee Nthite) was born on the 21st February 1947 in Rama. She is the third child of the late Adeline Diseko Ntiriki Nthite. She was baptised and confirmed at Polonia Parish, Skietfontein. She attended school at Rama Community School, then proceeded to Hebron Training Institution, acquiring a Junior Certificate (JC) and Primary Teachers Certificate (PTC). During her teaching career, which spanned over 40 years, she obtained a Secondary Education Certificate (SEC), Secondary Education Diploma (SED) and a B Tech. in Education Management.
Ma’am Sebopa started her teaching career in Madidi at Mmamonwana Primary School in her late teenager years. She later went on to spend the majority of her teaching career at Makgwaraneng Primary School as a Grade 1 Teacher. She had a passion and love for early childhood development and excelled in it. The children (now adults) she taught describe her as a strict but loving teacher who nurtured them and provided them with a sound foundation for the rest of their schooling.
She married the love of her life, the late Jacob Molifi Sebopa in, 1971. They were blessed with four children, namely Patricia Relebogile, the late Clement Lesiba, Karabo Titus and Katlego.
Mama’s love for cooking and baking was renowned, she found joy in feeding people delicious food and baked goods. She was resilient, hardworking and caring. She was a praying woman who gave us spiritual guidance which grounded us in our faith. Her love for her own children extended beyond that, she mothered, guided, supported and cared for the children in the rest of the family and was known to unofficially adopt kids around the community. Mama’s fortitude in how she lived her life is a character trait she has instilled in her children and all those around her.
She is survived by her 2 younger sisters, Sophy and Rinky. 3 children, Patricia, Karabo and Katlego. Son-in-law, Trevor. 4 grandchildren, Keamogetswe, Mofotse, Olefilwe and Luca, her only great-grandchild, Waronarotlhe, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and great-nieces.

Release mama, you have gained a powerful angel. Stay strong, yes it is easier said than done. May God give you strength.
