Maxwell Banzi Masina was born on the 18th of July 1976, first born child of Make Dumsile Tfwala and Vusumuzi Masina.
Maxwell matriculated from St Pauls High School in 1993. He then enrolled for a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Natal, Durban in 2000, graduating in December 2003. Banzi holds a Masters in Engineering Management degree from the University of Pretoria, graduating in 2009. He is also an alumnus of the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), where he graduated with a Masters degree in Mechanised Mining Systems in 2015.
Mkhulu, as he was affectionately referred to by his grandmother, has had a lustrous professional career. Until his demise, he was a Chief Engineer at Eskom, where he served for more than 15 years. He also held positions at Ford SA, Holcim Cement as well as the Water Corporation.
He is survived by his only daughter, Fundiswa, his parents, his aunts, siblings and cousins.
Maxwell was discovered non-responsive by his house caretaker on Monday 07 June 2021 and certified deceased by paramedics the same day. He died of natural courses.
Banzi was a gentleman amongst gentlemen. He was a loving father, a caring friend, and a pillar of strength to all.
A giant has fallen.
Rest in peace brother. You will be sorely missed by all.

Posted at 09:55h, 16 JuneJust like that Max you will always be remembered, I remember you at college and when we did our apprenticeship together, last Christmas party in Jhb was my last conversation with you. Always calm, humble my brother, I was 12days older than you and I considered you my twin brother. You’re at peace my brother I believe with all the ancients.
