"I have known Mampe Ntsedi for a number of years in different engagements with the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund. a straight talker but full of love for improving the quality of lives of all vulnerable groups in the society, Mampe had a passion for the work she was appointed to do at the NMCF and has had a warm heart to accommodate all of us as implementing partners and she offered technical support when it comes to making us understand the importance of reporting and accounting for funds received for a particular Project. She would always encourage us as the Civil Society Organizations to document our work so that when we submit a report, people could see the beautiful work we are doing as partners, I remember when she took over on the SeViSSA programme, she made lot of efforts for us to better understand the programme and as a result of her intervention most of us, in fact let me say as KHULA we appreciated her involvement as it opened our minds and we understood the Project. She would talk in a very professional manner even if we have something that we did not understand but Ms. Ntsedi would NEVER shout at us but would rather sit down and explain what is it that we supposed to do, along with her colleagues (Shadi; Eunice; Bontle; Charity; Vincent; Phumla and former colleagues Vuyani & Victor) she invested lot of knowledge and wisdom in us as this Organisation. it is not easy to accept her departure but we are trying to understand that she is no more: PHILIPPIANS 1 VERSE 21: FOR TO ME, TO LIVE IS CHRIST AND TO DIE IS GAIN Rest in Peace Mampe, you will always be remembered by all of us in this office: "

"I will always remember Mampe as she was a part of some of the fondest and dearest memories I have, especially in the early days of the Children’s Fund when our Founder, Mr Nelson Mandela was still integrally involved with raising funds for the Fund. Mampe, a colleague from the United Kingdom – Kathi Scott, and I, joined then CEO of the Fund, Bongi Mkhabela, and travelled to Barcelona Spain where we accompanied Mr Mandela at a fundraising event hosted by Naomi Campbell and Bono. I recall us working tirelessly to the extent we forgot to eat, and when we eventually got back to the hotel, Kathi, Mampe and I ordered room service – pancakes at 2am in the morning! Or when the late Achmat Dangor, then CEO of the Fund, walked into the office smiling from ear to ear having just come from a film shoot being produced by legendary film producer, Spike Lee on the work of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund; Achmat relayed the events of the day and how Mampe singlehandedly took control of Spike’s film shoot and very quicky and efficiently managed to get hundreds of children to toe the line for an aerial shot! Mampe was passionate about her work and a genuine community leader interested in children and young people and their wellbeing. She made donor visits easy and a pleasure because she was so engrossed in the programme she managed and strongly believed in the difference the Fund is making. I will always remember her as someone with strong conviction and principles. They say that words can't wipe away your tears, but I hope all of Mampe's family, friends, loved ones and NMCF family are surrounded by strength, love, courage and peace at this time. I cry because I will miss her, but I also smile because to live in hearts left behind is not to die. It's hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember. I was blessed to work with Mampe for many years. We travelled in two continents, and laughed and cried together many times. My best memory was in Barcelona, Spain. I remember how in awe I was of Mampe on that trip. I saw her self-navigate a different city, language and challenges to help young people - effortlessly. Her determination, common sense and dedication towards others shone through. She always made the hard times look really easy. There have been days when I battled inside, but a simple "hey Katz!" and hug from Mampe turned a bad day into a good day. She has served so well and so many, and I hope the Ntsedi family feel and hold on to that massive amount of love people have for her. Sometimes you never know the true value of a moment until it's become a memory.... I'm blessed and grateful to God I had time with her, a kiss and big hug in March before I left South Africa to come home to the UK. We left the building and smiled at each other. Mampe has silently closed the door of life and departed from us. Denzel Washington once said ""at the end of the day it is not about what you have or what you have accomplished-It's about who you have lifted up, who you've made better. That is what makes this moment a loss for our organisation but at the same time we find consolation in having worked with Mampe and how the experience made our team and organisation better. I got to know Mampe for the first time in our bid presentation for an evaluation on behalf of NMCF and at that moment I could already pick up her attention to detail and her professionalism in her work. During the evaluation that we conducted we experienced from other stakeholders the praise and appreciation that they had for Mampe. She supported the evaluation team in ways that made the whole exercise a walk in the park from a seemingly tough exercise.
