A legend has fallen but he has left the fruits of his work behind in each of us who had the privilege to work with him in excess of 30 years and with whom he graciously shared his knowledge and played a role in shaping us into who we are today.
Freeds was a great and much trusted friend and colleague to us all.
He was a deep thinker, he never waivered to share his views and to challenge current status quo. He played a pivotal role with the dematerialisaton of securities in the SA market and with the immobilization of bonds.
I can still hear his hearty laugh. He was a joy to be around. He worked hard but also knew how to have fun.
He was amazing at networking and built up a huge network during his career!
Most important though….as passionate as he was about his work, he was even more passionate about his love for his children and family.
A man with the utmost integrity and loved by all he came into contact with him.
Freeds thank you for the role that you played in my life – salute Sir!
My sincere condolences to Freed’s family and friends.
Go well Freeds, rest amongst the angels until we meet again. Charmaine Artman🙏🏻🌻🪷

    From Duncan Smith:
To Freedom: Young man, When I met you I was a young graduate who had little clue about the securities industry. On the third day we worked together we ended up at the Marshalls with John M and Jack M for a liquid lunch. Soon after that you took me under your wing and taught me not only about the industry but about integrity. Your teachings have greatly contributed to the successes I’ve had in my career and I’ll always cherish our association.
Go well and rest in peace Duncan

From: Jeanette Cole (or Aunty Cole as Freeds called her)

Freeds was a Trail Blazer, he never just took anyone’s word he would work it out for himself and come up with ideas to make it work, and he was completely fair minded….I have a great deal of respect and affection for him… will miss him, Aunty Cole….

Freedom Aka Mr Cindi, affectionately known to me as ‘Mr Cindy’. The laughter we shared by my mispronounciation became the name I called you throughout the years.

I will forever hold the deepest respect for you. When our paths crossed at Standard Bank Stock Exchange, Arbitrage department, I was in total awe of your extreme level of intelligence. I feel honoured to have been graced with the presence of an absolute gentleman of high integrity.

I’m going to miss the daily inspirational messages we sent to each other. I will forever treasure your memory Mr Cindi. May the Choir of Angels come to greet you and lead you to Paradise.

Farewell from, as you called me, Terry.

To the family , may God be your source of comfort, strength and peace at this sad time.

    With light and love
    Theresa Bougaard

Freedom I’m so sad , and I spoke to you 2 weeks ago. We worked together for so may years and still kept in touch. The loss is there, tangible and real within everyone…but Freedom exemplified life, love, laughter and an irrepressible belief and faith in seeing the best in everything and everyone . Freedom was a loyal colleague to all and a special friend to many and today we honour this as we recall special moments. My deepest sympathy to the family. May light shine upon your soul and rest in peace.❤️💐🙏

Baba was a caring, loving, honest, funny and an accommodative soul.
He was never judgemental and always gave the best advice.
As the in-laws, we are blessed that our daughter, who is my sister married into a loving family. Not only did she get a husband but was blessed with a father in law of that calibre who loved her as his own.
I too loved and respected him dearly.
Talking to him always felt like I was talking to my dad whom we had lost a couple of years ago.
His departure on earth has left us with so much grief.
One thing I console myself with is that his spirit will always be around to watch over his family.

    Love always

Deepest condolences to the Cindi family. uBab’ Cindi was respected and loved in equal measures in the Witpoortjie community. You were a gently, quite, humbly, calm and dignified giant of a man…we looked up to you growing up and a better guide and mentor we could not have asked for. Many a lessons you imparted to us in your thoughtful demeanor did not go to waste. We will forever honour you.

The Witpoortjie community is much poorer without you sir.

Rest in peace. May the good Lord bless your soul. May your spirit continue to shine through your off-springs.
