Dr. Bongumenzi Emmanuel Mpungose was born on 4th January 1965 at Mahlabathinj, Ulundi.
He started his primary education at Mahlabathini Primary then secondary education at Mahlabathini High and completed his matric at Menzi High school in Durban.
He obtained his junior degree at The University of Zululand, Honors degree at Stellenbosch University, Masters degree at Potchefstroom University and PhD at University of KwaZulu-Natal.
He was first employed by the Department of Justice as administration clerk and left the department of Justice occupying the position of the Prosecutor.
He was then employed by The department of Education as Assistant Director and left department of Education occupying position of Deputy Director.
He was then worked at the Department of Arts and Culture as Director and left the department of A&C as Chief Director. In 2018 he was appointed by The Parliament of South Africa as Section Manager (Deputy Director General).
In 2020 he achieved his long term goal when he was appointed byPan African Language Board as Chief Executive Officer.
He is survived by his wife and 5 kids, 2 girls and 3 boys and 5 grandkids.
